HISTORY
The University Hospital Farhat Hached, Sousse, Tunisia was
created on the 7th of October 1942 and was set up as a Public
Health Establishment since January 1, 1995.
It is a university hospital, and its mission of public utility
covers care, prevention, teaching and research.
It is organized to bring all the time and in the respect
for the social equity, the optimal supply of care, answering
the criteria of public health, notably in quality and in safety.
At the sanitary level and in the public sector, the region
accounts two university hospitals, one regional hospital,
5 district hospitals, 92 primary care centers and 3 centers
for the mother and child protection.
In the private sector, the region accounts 4 general-purpose
private clinics, one private clinic with single speciality
and 323 doctor's offices.
One of the axes of the strategy of development of the region
during the XIth Plan of development (2007-2011) is to strengthen
the role of the region in the sector of the international
cooperation.

and surgical services, 9 laboratories, and a capacity of 698
beds.
Staff:
Actually, 1661 agents among whom 220 doctors, dentists and
pharmacists, assuring by their high professional qualification
an optimal supply of care and quality 24 hours a day.

COOPERATION
The University Hospital Farhat Hached is strongly convinced
of its moral obligation consisting in contribution to and
realization of choices and orientations of the State concerning
the partnership and the international cooperation in research
which are considered as privileged support to innovation.
The hospital has also a teaching and training vocation with
medical ascendancy, associated with the whole and constant
conviction of its professionals of the necessity to get more
experience from other colleagues practising in the rest of
the world. This conviction is justified by the particular
interest which they grant to the cooperation and partnership.
That is why the University Hospital Farhat Hached concluded
bilateral agreements with European University Public Training
Hospitals:

* SALT TILMAN Hospital in the Province of Belge in Liege (Belgium).
* Hospitals in Hambourg (Germany).
